"Who am I..?"

Upon This Rock is a first person horror game set on a desolate island. Find the journal pages and piece together the story of this island and those who once lived here. But watch out, the island is not yet completely deserted, and strange lights haunt the night sky...

This game was made over 7 days as part of a 7-day Game Launch Challenge. I hope you enjoy it!

NOTE: For the best experience, I highly recommend playing this game alone, in a silent and dark room, while wearing headphones. Enjoy!

CONTROLS:
WASD - Move
Left shift - Run
E - Interact
Q - Cancel
Escape
- Pause

Known Bugs: The optimization is still a bit bad, so I should probably work on fixing that, also sometimes the game crashes after the end slide. If you find any more let me know!

To Be Added: Some more props, maybe an easter egg or two, and also a credits page!

Good story and atmosphere.. Loved it! :)

Really great game! Loved the eerie atmosphere and the task of finding notes, which had little snippets of info.

it’s nice, the fact that this was done in 7 days is pretty impressive in my opinion.

There are some issues that would be nice to have fixed, such as the performance and that you can get behind the invisible wall as I have done in my video.

Regardless it actually was pretty nice, very short though lol

Very interesting concept. The "enemies" walking around were super intriguing as well. Good stuff !

I made a video on your game if you're interested :)

A really beautiful game that comes with an interesting story, I died tho lol.

Fun game! I liked the atmosphere, the subtle creepiness of the sound design, seeing the strange beasts in the water. Great work, would love to see a more expanded version of this one. Almost got caught a couple times and it made my heart pound!

Upon this Dwayne I shall HOOOOOOO-MOOOOOOO.

Comments below clip:

First, I went for the light, after reading the first note. Next, I avoided them like the plague, as they were even deadlier than the disease. An eerie trip through the lands of an unknown island, brings the protagonist to the roots of his [non] being. Will he understand?

See for yourself.

Nice game. Had a great time. No bugs, hiccups or snags encountered, so kudos to all involved!

Here you go,  I enjoyed the game, live the atmosphere and lighting and the story from the journal was interesting, well done, I know a lot goes into making a game so that is an achievement in its self :)

Mystic island with a bit of Lovecraftian flavor.

The game is definitely a neat experience. Most of all, I did enjoy the atmosphere, tension filled environment and a masterfully crafted melody. It did remind me of the game called "The Shore", which does have a similar starting point.

The story was well crafted, everything in the game felt simple, yet intriguing and thought provoking, especially the ending. I did have an issue with frame rate and sensitivity, although it was not concerning me after a while.

Wish you well, developer. Hope to see more games from you in the near future. Happy 2023 and good luck. Cheers.

Thank you for playing it, and for your thought-out words about it! The frame rate is an issue I'm working on, and will definitely be fixed for my next game if nothing else. Happy 2023!

Loved it! The vibe was so cool, like a Northwestern evening shore. The fog looks so good. Really dug the lighthouse, the lived-in feeling of the interiors, the source material, and the sound. Super spooky!

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it. :)
